BE HAPPILY DISSATISFIED

“One of the greatest joys in life is to live life as a man above men, and yet walk as a man among the men”

Protagonist of a novel, a young girl had everything anybody could wish for. She had loving parents, a good and stable job, couple of reliable friends, all luxuries and comforts she was living in. However, she was not happy, simply because she could not find anything in her life different from others. She thought herself as a daughter felt she was like so many other daughters of the world, her parents were like anybody’s parents, her job also did not seem to add any special charm to her life. She imagined her life with her fiance and tried to find anything dissimilar from others but all in vain. Her life seemed to be fruitless, felt as she was just existing.  Meanwhile, due to certain circumstances she got to know that she was left with only a few more days of her life, and that brought every change. She came to realise the importance of these few days, decided to live them and attained every happiness she had been searching for. The difference between living and existing dawned upon her.

Many of us just exist in this world, never try to live. We remain hovered by number of fears and don’t come out of our cocoon, thus remain satisfied though unhappy. Mahatria Ra, a renowned author has very aptly voiced with his felicitous words “Without happiness there is no life. Without dissatisfaction there is no growth. Be happily dissatisfied.” Passing the days is merely existing. We can live our life when we can feel as if we are doing our best in this life.

Dear students, Life is for living but it is your time to create the life you want to live. Half of the session has passed now. The season for your grilling extensive reading has started, when you need to greet your books only for the preparation of your final examination of the session. Twelfth class students, you are almost done with your schooling: years of friendship, hopes, joys, togetherness and the trademark of quality education along with the memories of this 119-year- old banyan school. The world after school has number of challenges to be faced. This school has given you such a platform, has equipped you in such a way that you can face any challenge of the world ahead. No fear can frighten you, rather you can frighten the fear itself with your confidence. You have potential and competence to achieve anything you set your mind to. The need is to get up with awakened energy and to make efforts with the changed mindset. With the following verses of Napoleon Hill, I wish you all the best.

If you think you are beaten, you are;

If you think you dare not, you don’t!

If you’d like to win, but you think you can’t,

It’s almost certain you won’t.

Life’s battles don’t always go

To the stronger or faster man;

But sooner or later the man who wins

Is the person who thinks he can!
