As part of the ongoing Basic Astronomy Course (BAC), 350 students of Birla School, Pilani witnessed the Lunar Eclipse on the night of 7/8 September 2025. This rare celestial event was one of the longest eclipses of the decade, with the next expected only in December 2028.
The session began with an engaging lecture on the formation of the Moon and the science behind eclipses. Students explored why the Moon appears red during an eclipse, its mythological interpretations, and safe observation practices. The highlight of the evening was the guided telescope and binocular observation, making the experience both educational and awe-inspiring.
